Introduction

  • Objective

    The course aims to enhance the capacity of TVET teaching personnel in ASEAN countries to be able to develop inclusive training, including adapting curricula, lesson plans and assessment to the needs of diverse learners.

  • Format

    This is an interactive and fully self-paced Web-Based Training (WBT) course, accompanied by the Inclusion Guidebook for offline learning. When implementing the WBT course, it could be modified into a blended course with online and offline components for closer monitoring and facilitation.

  • Target Groups

    TVET Teachers in the ASEAN region are the key target groups, with the following possible variations: (1) General topics can be relevant for teachers at different levels of the education system. (2) General eLessons can be used to introduce inclusive TVET to education authorities and principals (3) TVET institutions can decide to make a country-specific course.

Instructor Bio:

Dr Marieke Stevens is an international education researcher and expert with over 15 years of experience supporting Inclusive Education, Equity in Education, Teacher Development, Education Policy and Programme Review and Development and Education Programme Management. She has experience working on various inclusive TVET projects in different country contexts, including developing a Disability-Inclusive TVET National Strategy and Training Seminars for UNESCAP Bhutan. Further, she provided technical expertise on various projects related to inclusive TVET of GIZ, such as the development of TVET teacher training materials for GIZ Malaysia/SEAMEO SEN and GIZ Ethiopia and the development of an assessment and guideline for the inclusion of youths living with disabilities in C-TVET for GIZ Kenya.

She has worked with a variety of international agencies and NGOs, including UNICEF, UNESCAP, UNDP, DFAT, RDPU, Humanity & Inclusion, Caritas Switzerland, Plan International and CBM in different countries, including Georgia, Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Malaysia, Albania, Vietnam, The Philippines, Lao PDR, Indonesia, Jordan, Azerbaijan, and Lebanon.

Dr Marieke Stevens is the Deputy Director for Beyond Education, a not-for-profit consultancy company. Beyond Education is composed of highly experienced researchers and development education specialists working in many countries in teacher development, inclusive education, child protection, education leadership, education, policy development and programming.
