"Fit for Industry 4.0"

"Learning Highlights" are standalone learning units or phases that are extracted from the existing In-Service Training Modules “Fit for Industry 4.0” focusing on the work process and designed to be efficient and effective for an appropriate period of time. These learning units are designed for self-paced learning without direct support of a trainer and are characterised by a specific topic, increased learner engagement, and anytime, anywhere access. In addition, Learning Highlights are intended to be less time-consuming and enhance knowledge retention.

Background of the Learning Highlights

"Fit for Industry 4.0"

In 2019, RECOTVET and the SEAMEO Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training (SEAMEO VOCTECH) launched five in-service training modules offering ASEAN TVET teachers and managers of TVET institutions an upgrade of TVET Fit for Industry 4.0 (Modules 1-3), Quality Assurance and Quality Development in TVET Institutions (Module 4) and Industry and TVET Institution Linkages (Module 5). The training modules provide concise and practical guidance on how TVET teachers in AMS can respond to the changing world of work.

The COVID-19 crisis has demonstrated that whereas the learning experience in the classroom or the company remains indispensable, dynamic, and resilient efforts to upgrade TVET teaching and provide reskilling and upskilling in line with labour market demand must also make full use of the potential of remote learning.

In a series of workshops in 2021, TVET multipliers and experts came together to improve these existing training modules according to digitalisation and industry 4.0. The redesigned Regional In-Service Training Modules have been optimised in terms of didactical learning approaches, teaching methodologies, learning activities, and learning resources. The extra module called “Module 0 – Action-Oriented Learning and Teaching” is a new module that overarches Modules 1-3 in order to enhance didactical teaching fit for industry 4.0.

As a result of the In-Service Training Modules “Fit for Industry 4.0”, RECOTVET has continued to focus on enhancing the competencies of TVET personnel and engaging them in capacity development efforts in the most efficient ways. To foster self-reliant learning and provide knowledge to a wider audience, the module content has been optimised in a small learning unit called "Learning Highlight”.
